Fatal Crash: Pickup Truck Flees Scene In South Farmingdale

A hit-and-run driver is at large after a fatal overnight Long Island crash.

It happened around 3:40 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 28  in South Farmingdale in the area of 116 Merrits Road.

Responding Nassau County Police officers found a man lying in the roadway with severe head trauma.

A short-bed silver-and-gray pickup truck struck the victim and left the scene before the officers' arrival, according to Nassau County Police. 

A Nassau County PD ambulance transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead by a physician shortly after arrival. 

His identity has not yet been released.

The investigation is ongoing.
